Local Rules

 

Welcome to the Damme Golf & Country Club Local Rules page. To ensure a fair and consistent experience for all players across our Championship Course, President’s Nine, and Compact Course, we have established specific local regulations that supplement the R&A Rules of Golf. Whether you are navigating our signature water hazards or managing course conditions, these guidelines are designed to uphold the integrity of the game and protect our unique natural environment.

For each of our courses, we have tailored guidelines to account for their unique layouts and natural features. Whether you’re taking on the strategic challenges of the Championship Course or enjoying a quick round on the Compact Course, staying informed ensures a fair game for everyone.

Championship Course

1. Out of Bounds (Rule 18.2)

  • Defined by white stakes, lines & fences.
  • A ball which crosses the public road defined as out of bounds, to the left of hole 2, to the right of the putting green of hole 3 and behind the putting green of hole 5 is out of bounds, even if it comes to rest on another part of the course that is in bounds for other holes.

2. Penalty Area (Rule 17)

  • Penalty areas are defined by yellow and red stakes, stones & lines.

3. Abnormal Course Conditions (Rule 16)

  • Ground under Repair
    Any area encircled by white lines or blue stakes.
  • Protection of trees and plantations
    Staked trees and plantations surrounded by a plastic sleeve, plastic tube, wire mesh or the like, are no play zones that are to be treated as an abnormal course condition. If the ball lies anywhere on the course other than in a penalty area and it lies on or touches such a tree or plantation or such a tree or plantation interferes with the player’s stance or area of intended swing, the player must take relief under Rule 16.1f.
    If the ball lies in a penalty area, and interference to the player’s stance or area of intended swing exists from such a tree or plantation, the player must take relief either with penalty under Rule 17.1e or with free relief under Rule 17.1e(2).
    Exception: there is no relief under this Local Rule if the player chooses a stance, swing or line of play that is clearly unreasonable.
  • Immovable Obstructions
    All paved paths.

4. Integral objects

  • Any earth path not bordered by railway sleepers & all pond retaining walls, are integral objects.

Information:

  1. Distance on sprinkler heads are in meters to the front of the green.
  2. Distance posts alongside the fairway are in meters to the centre of the green.
  3. See ad valvas if any temporary Local Rule is in operation.
  4. Damme Golf & Country Club advises all players to play ready golf.

President’s Nine

1. Out of Bounds (Rule 18.2)

  • Defined by white stakes, lines & fences.

  5. Damme Golf & Country Club advises all players to play ready golf.

Compact Course

ONE BAG PER PLAYER WITH:

  • For Men: 7/8/9/PW/SW + putter
  • For Ladies: 6/7/8/9/PW/SW + putter

1. Out of Bounds (Rule 18.2)

2. Penalty Area (Rule 17)

  • Penalty areas are defined by yellow and red stakes, stones & lines.

3. Abnormal Course Conditions (Rule 16)

  • Ground Under Repair
    Any area encircled by white lines or blue stakes.
  • Protection of trees and plantations
    Staked trees and plantations surrounded by a plastic sleeve, plastic tube, wire mesh or the like are no play zones that are to be treated as an abnormal course condition.
